I bought these a couple of years ago and they are still like new. I've had no problems with the velcro coming undone so it must have just been a bad batch. They are really comfortable and cool on a long walk to the beach and fantastic for climbing around the rocks and rockpools when I'm sea fishing. I've never liked wearing most sandals and flip-flops on the rocks due to poor grip and no ankle support but these give similar support to a decent walking shoe. I also own Merrell Chameleon Wrap Slam, Chameleon Ventilator's and have just bought some WaterPro Ottowa's too and they have all been tough and very comfortable.

This is my 2nd pair of Merrell sandals the first lasted 3 years and are still usable but a bit scruffy the new sandals are above my expectations and the straps are as sound as a pound. I do think it would of been nice if I could of found a shop that stocks the full range of Merrell gear because I probably would of bought other stuff. By the way, the back straps are very secure and don't undo.

Really comfty sandels and I have never had any issues with the straps comming undone.
