Ok shoe that starts to fall apart after about a month Well I have have worn the shoes for 3 months now, and it is an ok shoe. Merell has made better shoes in the past. This shoe runs big which is fine with me I like more toe room. But at the flex point of the shoe the fabric has worn out. It started about a month after owning them and has only gotten worse. Also, the shoes squeak. Everyone can always here me coming when I wear them as the shoes squeak with every step that I take. They are fairly comfortable when I run but not as comfortable as previous Bare Access shoes.

Design changes have ruined this shoe. I'm a big fan of the Bare Access line. I've owned multiple pairs starting with the original Bare Access. All of them have been superb shoes. I ran my first half marathon in the Bare Access 2 with excellent results. The Bare Access Flex, however, is a huge disappointment that for me, ends Merrell as my zero-drop running shoe of choice. There are two things I do not like at all, one of which is a major dealbreaker: 1. The semi-padded tongue. I don't know why manufacturers go to non, or in the case of the Flex, a semi-padded tongue. It provides less comfort around the ankle where the laces are because the padding is minimal or nonexistent. 2. Deal breaker - the new design has a set of "ridges" along the inside and outside of the forefoot. One of these ridges on the instep is digging into my arch when running and causing blisters. It took me two uncomfortable runs to finally pick up the shoe and discover that the ridge in question is the exact cause of the problem. See the picture where my thumb is, that is the spot that is uncomfortable. I honestly can't believe that this design flaw passed any sort of actual testing. I also suspect that that particular spot will eventually wear a hole in the fabric because of the obvious rubbing that occurs there. Sad to say, with the elimination of all other Bare Access shoes, I'll have to find another zero-drop shoe to run in. I'm very disappointed as I generally love my Merrell shoes.

Way more positives than negatives I’ve had the shoe for about 3+ months and now I admit I wear them for more than just running which is a no-no in the running world. But, what attracted me to the shoe was the slightly wider toe, comfort, and the shoe looks sharp when compared to other wider toe shoes. I have nerve damage in my feet, but I wasn’t going to give up my running so this has been my best solution out of a dozen pairs in the past 3 years. My only negatives would be that due to the lightweight material, there’s a trade-off for the likelihood of ripping. I have a small hole in the toe region from a Texas sticker patch I wandered off into. Only other negative is the laces twist very frequently. Easy solution is a pair of $5 round laces. I highly recommend this shoe, especially if you’re looking for a little extra room in the toe and don’t want ugly shoes.

Great look and feel terrible quality I love the look and feel of this shoe but after only one month of moderate wear the shoe started to rip. The shoe does run about a half size big which may have something to do with the very early ripping. However given that multiple people have complaints about the shoes falling apart I believe it’s a quality issue.

Hurt my arches I bought these for the lightweight and barefoot aspect of these shoes. Had high hopes for minimalist training. Unfortunately there is a defect on the inside arch that rubs and causes blisters. It’s possible I have a bad pair, but regardless I am hesitant to recommend these.
