Without a doubt this is the best value, all season, general purpose hiking boot on the market ! The Thermo 6 boots are lite weight, have very good grip and are waterproof which is important in my line of work. The boots run on the small side so keep that in mind when ordering your size. http://dwayneoakes.zenfolio.com

Bought these boots a little over a year ago from Sport Chek and now the left boot toe seam is seperating and both boot soles have worn down alot.I use them only for fall/winter hikes and i have a low cut Merrell hiker for spring/summer hikes.I am very happy with the low cut hiker. These are not cheap boots and would have liked them to last longer being MERRELL BRAND

Merrell's Reply:

Merrell shoes are warranted for manufacturing defects one year from the date of purchase with proof. (with the exception of sandals /three-month warranty). Our warranty covers all of our products against defective material and/or workmanship. We suggest that you return to the store with your shoes and proof of purchase and speak with a store manager. They inspect your shoes at their premises only to determine if the problem is the result of a manufacturing defect.

Boots are great one of the first days after purchasing the boots walked over 6 KMs and only had a small blister, very warm. The only issue with the boots is the laces, they do not stay done up. The lace material is very slippery causing the laces to come undone very often other than that very happy with the purchase.

I purchased these boots for a winter backpacking trip in Algonquin Park back in December of 2011. Since then I've worn them on the summit of Mount Marcy (5,000 ft) in winter. I've worn these boots climbing in Yoho National Park to the summit of Mount Lefroy (11,000 ft) following the Canmore/ Alberta storm of 2013. These boots helped me get to the summit of Mount Rainier (14,000 ft) in the winter of 2014. In every situation my feet were incredibly warm and the boots kept my feet very dry.

This is the second pair of these boots I've had to buy within a year!! And not due to any fault of the manufacturer. Just due to my brain dead neighbour who, due to an errant cigarette butt, burnt my house down!! So with the change of season upon us, ordering a new pair was a priority. I have never had a pair of winter boots that were as warm and comfortable as these! And I commend Merrel on their diligent and timely manner in which they were received. Would I reccommend these to any interested parties...absolutely!!!
