I know there's a bit of hype around barefoot and upcoming Mixmaster in particular, but I took a pair of Road Gloves for a spin yesterday. 1st thing to note was much more comfort than trail glove, more forgiving and slightly more cushioning, but still didn't sacrifice flexible barefoot experience or "feel". I usually run 4.5km in "Brooks Ravenna 2's" , this time it felt so good I did 10km, and only stopped because I wanted to take my own advice I'd given that day about listening to my body (some pains were coming - which usually set in 3 or 4km earlier). I felt on top of the world, avg heart rate was 20bpm lower than per normal cushioned shoes running (thanks also to barefoot technique - faster cadence - etc), spent MUCH more time in target heart rate.... If not for leg pains beginning and thus stopping to prevent potential overuse injury, felt I could have run all day (aerobically); will build towards that...... As for now, I'm still a bit of a casual jogging hack, jogging to mmaintain fitness and balance with my lifestyle. The Road Gloves were awesome, completely different feel than trail glove (for me), thanks to sole unit and marginally more cushioning, felt safer, grips onto smooth surfaces far better. Also a great opportunity as walking/style shoe in my opinion. Don't know if I'll ever go back to my Ravenna's...
