These boots were my first Merrell purchase, and I found them far better than any previous boots I've owned. I have been impressed since my first trek up a slippery English mountain in pervasive rain. The grip impressed, as did the instant comfort. My feet stayed warm and dry on a day that my coveted camera stopped working from the wet. Since then, I have used these boots for Tasmanian treks, socially, and for when work takes me into the elements. Three years old, and they're showing little wear. These boots made me a Merrell fan, and I now seek out Merrell shoes for comfort, grip and durability.

im a soldier in the Australian Military. I am coming upon completion of an 8 month tour of Afghanistan and i thought I had to commend you on the quality of these Merrell boots. Since Feb I have been patrolling through the desert, green zone and mountains of this country carrying heavy loads in constant wet/ dry conditions. These boots have been outstanding. Easilly the best piece of equipment i have purchased and definitelly made life alot easier! The grip and toughness of the boots were excellent but most importantly the comfort. I did not recieve one blister my entire tour and would have to say these boots are even more comfortable than my asics runners.

I have been using these boots in the Australian outback for nearly 9 months and recently they got wet for the first time. (It doesn't rain here very often!!) As they filled with water I took them off to dry while we were stopped for lunch and put them in direct sun to dry. The temperature at the time was 49 degrees Celsius (121F) in the shade. I shouldn't have been surprised when I put the boots back on to find that they had shrunk and that they are now so much smaller that I can no longer use them. I guess that the moral to this is that I shouldn't have dried them the way I did as the heat was extreme. I am going to buy another pair and look after then better as they are the most comfortable boot that I have ever worn and they handle the rough tracks of the outback really well. Don't be as stupid as I was. Don't dry yours in the sun on a bloody hot day.

I bought these shoes just under a year ago ( Spring 2013) for walking the dog during wet weather. And they are supremely comfortable. I have probably used them about 2 - 3 times per week for around 1-2 hours at a time. Just recently I have notice the uppers are tearing away from the soles on both shoes in exactly the same place on both shoes. I would have expected these shoes to have lasted longer than they have. The are not leaking yet but I would imagine it will only be a matter of time now. I would not buy another pair of these as I would have expected a better quality shoe for the price tag.

Merrell's Reply:

Sorry to hear that your Moab's have not lasted the test of time. These shoes have a 12 month warrantee, so we would ask you to return them to the place of purchase and they will be able to help you with a replacement pair.
